What's a Shiftmakers event?

Shiftmakers events are a space created to spread solutions that can help change the world in a positive way. The message is directly focused on answering the question, “How can we improve the world we live in?”

The events are independently organized and planned by volunteers and their objective is not limited to just spreading a message, but to seek interactivity from the audience and to call to action those who listen to the speakers.

Before requesting a license to organize an event in your community, you should know the following:

  • Shiftmakers reserves the right to grant organization licenses.
  • No payment, fee, or membership fee is required to obtain an organizer’s license. Licenses are free.
  • Although Shiftmakers events are themed, they cannot be used to promote spiritual, religious, political, extremist ideas or controversial beliefs that attack healthy human coexistence.
  • Talks cannot be used for self-promotion or commercialization.
  • Renewal for organizing a second event is not guaranteed.

Format of Shiftmakers events
Talks have a maximum duration of 12 minutes. The events start with a compelling reel-style call, then there will be a break to introduce the speaker, the topic presented, sponsors, and the name of the event, followed by the rest of the talk.

Interactive activities are allowed between the audience and the speaker. Some ideas include: conducting on-screen polls, games, debates, Q&A panels, dispelling myths, among others.

Diversity of topics
Although the event is themed, talks must have different content and diversity of opinions should always be sought so that attendees can contrast opinions.

Content without prejudice
Shiftmakers events are organized by volunteers but must always maintain respect for the speaker and help disseminate content without any prejudice.
